Update on Incident at 9919 Richmond #823

October 10, 2006 -- The fatal shooting of a woman at 9919 Richmond #823 about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 8) has been ruled a suicide.

The victim, Teresa Dawn Bumpers, 37, of 9919 Richmond #823, suffered a gunshot
wound to the head and died at the scene. The Harris County Medical Examiner's
office has ruled the victim suffered a self-inflicted wound.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B.E. Roberts, D.J. Crain and Officer J. Sosa
reported:

The victim's boyfriend returned to the couple's apartment about 1:35 a.m. and
found the victim armed with his pistol. After confronting the victim about having his gun, she returned it to its original place. The victim then entered the bedroom and shot herself in the head. Investigators found a micro-cassette recorder in the apartment that contained the victim giving details on how she planned to kill herself. Evidence on the tape reflected the statement given by the victim's boyfriend.
