Incident at 9500 East Avenue L

October 16, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the death of a man found at 9500 East Avenue L about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday (October 14).

The victim, Enriguez Hernandez 'Henry' Flores, 53, of 8219 Peekskill had a fractured skull, but the cause of death is still being determined by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.W. Belk and Officer M.J. Miller reported:

The victim's mother received a call from an unknown Hispanic female and two Hispanic males who explained that her son was drunk and passed out in his car.
The victim's mother provided the three with directions to her house on East Avenue L so they could drop off her son. The males and the female, driving the victim's car, arrived at the victim's mother's house about 12:30 p.m.

Flores, whose family said was an alcoholic, was apparently unconscious in the
back seat of his car where he was left by his mother, who thought he was drunk
and would sleep it off. She checked on him about 4:30 p.m. and found her son
dead. Flores' wallet and possible cash were missing, but other personal papers
and a credit card were found in his pocket. Flores was last seen on Friday
(October 13) just before midnight leaving a bar named The Big Dawg Saloon in
the 8800 block of Almeda Genoa.

The vehicle driven by the two males was described as an old blue 1960s model pickup truck with wooded side rails. Investigators would like to interview the persons who possibly tried to help the victim by taking him to his mother's house.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
