Traffic Incident at 600 West Sam Houston Parkway

October 25, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a traffic accident that critically injured two people in the 600 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway service road about 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 24).

The names of the two victims, a male and a female, are being withheld pending notification to family members. Both suffered life threatening head injuries and were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant W.R. Cumbess and Officers D. Vega and J. Cavillo reported:

The preliminary investigation indicates the male victim was driving a 2005 Chevrolet truck north on the West Sam Houston Parkway service road and ran the red light at the Kimberly Road intersection. The truck struck a 2005 Ford Mustang driven by the female victim as her vehicle entered the intersection, traveling east on Kimberly.

The investigation is continuing.
