HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeants J.A. Calley and S. Sorge and Officers S. Martinez and D. Gutierrez reported:

A blue 1991 Buick stalled in the westbound lanes of the 13200 block of the Northwest Freeway (Highway 290) when it was struck from behind by a white Lexus. An unknown color Mercedes then struck the rear of the Lexus, which caused this vehicle to again strike the Buick, causing the Buick to flip over from the impact. A male passenger in the Buick died at the scene. The driver of the Buick and five occupants from the other vehicles were all transported to area hospitals with various injuries. A passenger from the Buick who had exited that vehicle prior to the accident was not injured and could not recall any details of the incident.
