September 8, 2006 -- "The Department is concerned when any group, especially a law enforcement group, misleads the public regarding public safety. Informing the citizens and visitors of Houston that police officers will not chase criminals is irresponsible, unnecessarily alarming, and false. The other issues raised by the billboards are being addressed through strategic enforcement initiatives and an increased hiring committment from elected representatives."
