Traffic Incident at 6800 Southwest Freeway

September 14, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6800 block of the Southwest Freeway about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday (September 13).

The identity of the deceased female victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer S. Bolton reported:

The victim apparently attempted to cross the Southwest Freeway (U.S. Hwy. 59) northbound mainlanes on foot when she was struck by numerous vehicles. The first striking vehicle fled the scene and no witnesses to the initial impact have been located.

The investigation is continuing.
