Incident at 8449 Winkler, Suite G

September 25, 2006 -- Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 8449 Winkler, suite G, about 1:15 a.m. today (September 25).

The suspect, Juan Hernandez (H/m, DOB 8-21-85), is accused in the killing of a security guard. A murder charge is pending against Hernandez at this time.

The security guard, whose identity is being withheld pending notification to family members, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant D. Crain and Officer J. Sosa reported:

The suspect was with a group of five other males who attempted to enter the Club Fiesta at 8449 Winkler when one of the males became involved in a confrontation with the security guard. The males were denied entry. While in the parking lot of the club, Hernandez pointed a gun at the security guard, who fired his weapon at the males, striking one of them in the chest. Hernandez then fired his gun, striking the security guard and killing him. Hernandez and the group of males left the scene in two separate vehicles, which were later recovered. The male who was shot was driven to St. Joseph's Hospital by the other males.

Four males, including Hernandez and the wounded suspect, were taken into custody.
