Traffic Incident at 11800 Fondren @ Ludington

April 26, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 11800 Fondren @ Ludington on April 26 about 3:50 a.m.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer D.J. Gutierrez reported:

A white Cadillac was traveling northbound on Fondren at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle and skidded sideways, jumped the curb and struck two pedestrians (a male and a female) that were at the intersection. The female victim was killed instantly and the male pedestrian was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious condition. After the suspect struck the pedestrians, his vehicle struck a light pole and was cut in half. The front part of the Cadillac then struck another vehicle, which was turning left onto Ludington. Neither one of the occupants in that vehicle were injured. The driver of the Cadillac was pronounced dead at the scene. Evidence indicates that he may have been under the influence of narcotics. No charges will be filed.
