HPD Truck Enforcement Unit Nets Large Narcotics Drug Bust

April 26, 2007 - A suspect has been arrested after a HPD Truck Enforcement Unit discovered his tractor-trailer filled with narcotics at 9600 Southwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 59 South) about 9 a.m. today (April 26).

The suspect, whose identity is being withheld at this time, is facing charges of felony possession of marijuana.

HPD Narcotics Division Sergeant N.C. Wilson reported:

Officer B. Balthrop stopped the suspect’s 18-wheeler to conduct a commercial vehicle inspection. During the inspection, the suspect gave Officer Balthrop permission to search the trailer and the officer discovered numerous bundles of what appeared to be marijuana. A Narcotics Division officer arrived at the scene and assisted with the investigation. It was discovered the trailer was filled with approximately 1400 pounds of marijuana (57 bundles), which were seized.

This is another example of the outstanding police work our HPD officers are providing everyday to the citizens of Houston.
