Incident at 4900 Arizona

February 13, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 4900 block of Arizona about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday (February 10).

The male victim’s identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant R.C. Gonzales and Officer S. Johnson reported:

A blue Chevrolet Tahoe was south on Arizona entering the intersection at Lenore when it was struck by a silver Chevrolet Malibu traveling west on Lenore. The driver of the Malibu ran the stop sign at this intersection and the impact caused the Tahoe to lose control and roll onto its roof. The driver of the Malibu continued west and struck a residence in the 8200 block of Lenore, causing slight damage.

Witnesses observed two males, one believed to be the driver of the Tahoe, leaving the scene of the accident. The deceased victim was a passenger in the front seat of the Tahoe. Beer bottles were found in both vehicles. Toxicology tests will determine if alcohol was a factor.

The investigation is continuing.
