Update on Incident at 9700 Court Glen Drive #1601

January 16, 2007 -- Two suspects have been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a man on August 3, 2006 at 9700 Court Glen Drive #1601 about 11:10 p.m.

The suspects, Carnell Silas Meredith (b/m, DOB: 9-22-80) and Jeremy Thomas (b/m, DOB: 7-23-86) are each charged with murder in the 177th State District Court.

The victim is identified as Vernon Keith Moses, 42, of 9700 Court Glen #1601. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.J. Brooks and Officer M.F. Waters reported:

HPD officers responding to a shooting call discovered the body of the victim inside of an apartment. According to witnesses, the victim was last seen arguing with Meredith and Thomas. At some point during the argument, one of the suspects produced a handgun and shot Moses three times after he began running away.

Thomas was arrested in Baton Rouge, LA on October 31, 2006 and Meredith was arrested in New Orleans, LA on January 8, 2007. The suspects are Katrina evacuees and both are currently being held in the Orleans Parish lock-up facility in New Orleans on numerous charges.
