Incident at 100 East Freeway

March 24, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating the death of a man found at 100 East Freeway about 4:25 p.m. on Friday (Mar. 23).

The identity of the male victim and the cause of death are pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.T. Wyers and Officer B.W. Nabors reported:

Texas Department of Transportation employees discovered the man's body underneath an overpass in the 100 block of the East Freeway. The victim, who appeared to be homeless, sustained burns and may have been at the location for some time. Houston Fire Department Arson investigators are also conducting an investigation to determine if the fire was intentionally set or an accident.
