Update on Incident at 3244 Reeves

March 30, 2007 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 3244 Reeves about 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday (March 27).

The suspect, Keith Triamane Smith (b/m, DOB: 2-10-84), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Kenneth Wayne Hickman, 22, of 3244 Reeves, who suffered a gunshot wound to the hip and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant D.A. Ferguson and Officer T.S. Tyler reported:

Mr. Hickman arrived home, parked his car behind his residence and was attempting to move another car out of his driveway when he was approached by Smith. A witness said Smith began yelling at Hickman and then pulled a gun from the front of his pants and shot Hickman several times. Mr. Hickman ran inside his residence as Smith fled the scene.

Smith was arrested on Thursday (March 29) in the 4100 block of Allison. He was driving the burgundy 1992 Pontiac Grand Am used to flee the scene of the murder.
