Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2700 South Kirkwood


July 6, 2015 - The fatal shooting of a male and the wounding of another at 2700 South Kirkwood about 4:50 p.m. on Sunday (July 5) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the male victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer C. Coleman and T. Tyler reported:

The two males, along with a female witness, were in a white Volvo sedan in the Walmart parking lot at the above address.  One of the males was driving and the second male (victim) was sitting in the back seat.  An argument between the two males broke out and quickly escalated to gunfire.  The driver was shot in the chest and the backseat passenger received multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.  The driver was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he is in critical condition.  The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.  The female was uninjured.
