Investigation into Incident at 10234 Tangiers

July 29, 2015 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which a robbery suspect opened fire on SWAT officers, who then discharged their weapons at the suspect at 10234 Tangiers about 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday (July 28).

No one was injured.

The suspect, Anthony House (b/m, 24), faces a charge of aggravated assault of a police officer.  House was wanted and charged on Monday (July 27) with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 177th State District Court.  A photo of House is not available at this time, pending further investigation by the Robbery Division.

Senior Police Officers G. Heath and M. Campbell, who discharged their weapons, are assigned to the HPD Tactical Operations Division.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer T. Andrade and Officers S. Overstreet and M. Arroyo reported:

HPD patrol officers attempted to serve a warrant on an aggravated robbery suspect (House), who was believed to live in the 10200 block of Tangiers.  Officers saw House driving his vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  House then attempted to flee officers in his vehicle and on foot.  He then ran into a nearby residence to hide.

The HPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team responded to the location and located House in the attic of a residence at the above address.  At that time, House fired several shots at SWAT officers.  Fearing for their lives, two officers returned fire.  No one was struck. House later surrendered to SWAT officers and was taken into custody without further incident.

As is customary when an HPD officer discharges a weapon in the city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
