Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Investigation into Woman Found Deceased at 6300 Fairdale



October 6 2015 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the investigation into a woman found deceased at 6300 Fairdale about 9:25 a.m. last Friday (October 2).  The female's cause of death remains pending autopsy results.

Samuel Martin Vasquez-Lopez (H/m, 26) is charged with tampering with evidence involving a corpse in the 209th State District Court.  A photo of Vasquez-Lopez is attached to this news release.

The victim, Lidia Batz Vasquez, 19, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

HPD Homicide Division Officers G. Sullivan and D. Stark reported:  

A witness found Ms. Vazquez lying near a grassy foot trail behind a parking lot at the above address.  

On Sunday (Oct. 4), Vasquez-Lopez was arrested without incident.  He stated he took Ms. Vasquez's body to the above location after he realized she was dead but failed to notify police. 

No signs of trauma were found on Vasquez.  The investigation is pending Vasquez's cause of death to be determined by an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
