Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3111 Woodridge Drive



October 20, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3111 Woodridge Drive about 1:40 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 19).

The female victim, 31, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  The identity of the woman is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer C. Tosso reported:

The female driver, 74, of a silver Saturn VUE was parked in a handicap parking space in front of the H-E-B grocery store at the above address.  She placed the SUV in reverse and, for unknown reasons, accelerated at a high rate of speed, crashing into the store.  In addition to the deceased woman, four other individuals, including the victim's 2-year-old daughter, were also transported to area hospitals where they were treated and released.  Two other persons were treated at the scene.  

Currently, there are no charges in this incident.

The investigation is continuing, pending results of a blood draw of the driver.
