Suspect Arrested, Charged in Man's Death at 3117 Marzelle Street



March 07, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the beating death of a man at 3117 Marzelle Street about 8:45 p.m. on Sunday (March 6).

The suspect, John Cook (b/m, 23), is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court.  A photo of Cook is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 43, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Officers C. Elder and D. Williamson reported:

Officers were dispatched to an assault in-progress call to a residence at the above address and found the victim lying in a living room.  He had suffered blunt force trauma to the head.  Paramedics transported the man to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.  

Investigators learned the victim was assaulted by a family member who remained on the scene when officers arrived.  That family member, suspect Cook, was taken into custody without incident and subsequently charged.
