Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 8900 Cullen



March 15, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred at 8900 Cullen Boulevard about 7:05 p.m. on Monday (March 14).

The suspect, Marckia Estes (b/f, 26), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 232nd State District Court.  A photo of Estes is not available at this time.

The male victim, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Vanderbull and Officer K. Hines reported:

According to witnesses, suspect Estes was driving a tan Buick LeSabre at a high rate of speed northbound on Cullen Boulevard when she failed to control her speed and struck the rear right side of a tan Toyota Avalon, causing the Toyota to roll over, killing one passenger.  The Avalon's driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries. 

Estes was found to be intoxicated and subsequently charged.  She remains at Ben Taub General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries she sustained in the crash.
