Incident at 3800 West Fuqua

January 12, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 3800 West Fuqua about 12:50 a.m. today (Jan. 12).

The identity of the victim, a juvenile male believed in his teens, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer M.E. Wick reported:

According to witnesses, a blue Chevrolet SUV traveling eastbound on West Fuqua at a high rate of speed left the roadway and apparently over-corrected causing the vehicle to skid. The right side of the vehicle struck a tree in the median of the roadway killing a juvenile passenger. The driver and one other passenger of the Chevrolet were flown via Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in unknown conditions. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

The driver of the Chevrolet may face charges once the investigation is completed.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5520 Cavalcade

September 01, 2021 - The fatal shooting of a man at 5520 Cavalcade Street that occurred about 5:05 p.m. Tuesday (August 31) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The victim, Michael Saulsberry, 40, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  

The male shooter remained at the scene and was questioned and released, pending further investigation.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Smith and Detective M. Estep reported:

HPD officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found a Mr. Saulsberry suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Paramedics transported him to the hospital.  .

Based upon statements from the shooter and evidence at the scene, the shooting appears to have been in self defense. 

The investigation is on-going.
