January 2, 2020 - Houston police are pleased to announce that charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of one man at 10039 Cedardale Drive about 4:10 p.m. on December 28 and the attempted shooting of another man just minutes later outside a business at 1150 Bunker Hill Road.

The suspect, Matthew Williams (w/m, 24), is facing numerous charges that include aggravated assault against a public servant, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a weapon, theft of a motor vehicle, violation of a protective order, and assault of a family member in the 177th State District Court.  He is also charged with failure to stop and give information in Harris County Criminal Court #14.  Other charges are also possible against Williams.

A booking photo of Williams is not available for release at this time pending further investigation.

The victim, Adrian Jackson, 30, is hospitalized in critical, but stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer Z. Brumley reported:

Mr. Jackson, an employee of the U.S. Postal Service, was on foot and delivering mail at the above address when he was shot by an unknown suspect who then fled the scene.  Paramedics transported Jackson to the hospital.  The suspect fled the scene.

Investigators learned of a discharge of firearms at a nearby business on Bunker Hill Road that involved the same suspect who shot Jackson.  No one was injured in the incident when the suspect pointed a gun and attempted to shoot in the direction of an elderly man.  Fortunately, the gun did not go off.

A multi-agency investigation was launched with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and the HPD.  The extensive investigation led to the identity of Williams as the suspect in the shooting.  He was taken into custody on Monday (Dec. 30) and subsequently charged.
