Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5000 Westheimer Road

May 26, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5000 Westheimer Road about 9:50 p.m. on Sunday (May 24).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer A. Chheav reported:

The victim was driving a silver Lexus SC 430 eastbound in the westbound lanes at the above address when he struck a black Infinity G375.  The driver of the Infinity stated he observed the Lexus driving the wrong way and swerving in and out of his lane before striking him.  

The driver of the Lexus did not appear to have any crash-related injuries, and may have suffered a medical episode prior to the incident.  His cause of death is pending autopsy results from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The driver of the Infinity suffered possible minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
