Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 4121 North Freeway

October 8, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a woman at 4121 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) that occurred about 7:35 a.m. today.

The suspect, Ashton Jered Dabney (b/m, 36) is charged with aggravated assault of a family member and felon in possession of a weapon in the 183rd State District Court. 

A booking photo of Dabney, who is not in custody,  is not available at this time.  

The victim, Tala Green, 43, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.  

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer A. Golden reported:

Ms. Green was sitting in a car at the above address when Dabney, her ex-boyfriend, approached the vehicle and fired a handgun several times.  Green was struck in the thigh and Dabney fled the scene on foot.  Green called 9-1-1 and responding paramedics transported her to the hospital.
