Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 13102 Lindenloch Lane

September 8, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of a man at 13102 Lindenloch Lane about 3 a.m. on Saturday (September 5).

The suspect, Darius Francis (b/m, 26), is charged with manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and felon in possession of a weapon in the 209th State District Court.  A photo of Francis is not available, pending further investigation.

The female victim, Tawana Cain, 45, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The male victim, Tremond Jones, 40, suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective J. Escobar reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at the above address.  Detectives subsequently learned Mr. Jones and suspect Francis were involved in a physical altercation in front of the residence.  Several witnesses standing outside reported seeing Francis holding a handgun.  During the altercation, the gun was fired one time, striking both victims.  

Jones left the scene and was later transported to an area hospital.  Ms. Cain was transported to an area hospital from the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

Suspect Francis was arrested without incident and subsequently charged for his role in the shootings.
