January 6, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 6311 Beverly Hill Street about 6:55 p.m. on September 20, 2020.

The suspect, Deerrian Caraway (b/m, 27), is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Caraway is attached to this news release.

The victim, Patrick Aikens, 46, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives P. Pak and C. Flora reported:

Patrol officers responded to a shooting in front of the main office at an apartment complex at the above address.  Upon arrival, officers met Houston Fire Department paramedics, who had already pronounced Mr. Aikens deceased.  He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

Investigators learned Aikens met with an unknown suspect, who arrived in a newer model, dark-colored Nissan Altima.  Aikens and the suspect got into an altercation, which led to Aikens being shot.  The suspect ran to the waiting Altima and fled the scene.

Further investigation led to the identity of Caraway as the suspect in this case and he was arrested on Monday (Jan. 4) without incident.
