Office of Chief of Police

The Office of the Chief of Police coordinates and facilitates directives and needs assessments, as well as internal and external requests from stakeholders that include the HPD Command Staff, the Offices of the Mayor and City Council, other City departments, outside agencies, and citizens. The Chief meets weekly with his Executive Command Staff, which is composed of the department's Executive Chief, Executive Assistant Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, and Deputy Directors.

The Executive Chief as well as the Office of Budget & Finance, Office of Community Affairs, Office of Legal Services, Office of Technology Services, and Office of Planning and Data Governance report to the Chief of Police. Internal Affairs, Organizational Development Command, and Support Services Command report to the Executive Chief. The Executive Chief also manages the Executive Assistant Chiefs. The Executive Assistant Chiefs manage the Investigative & Special Operations and Patrol Operations commands, which are summarized in subsequent sections of this document.
