Houston Police Officer David Healy was killed early Saturday, November 12, 1994 when his patrol car went out of control and struck a concrete pillar in southeast Houston.

Houston police investigators said David Healy, 26, was returning to the South-Central patrol station after booking a prisoner into the Southeast Command Station Jail when the accident occurred shortly after 2 a.m.

Investigators said witnesses told them Healy's car was inbound at a high rate of speed in the 6000 block of Texas 288 near MacGregor when in struck the pillar. Healy was pronounced dead at Ben Taub Hospital a half-hour later.

Officer Healy was survived by his mother Mrs. Judy Casey and her husband Gerry Casey of Thousand oaks. His father John Healy of Chicago, his brother John Bret Haly and his grandmother Mrs. Bernice Healy of Chicago. Numerous uncles and cousins. Visitation was held at Earthman Hunter's Creek Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday November 14, 1994. A funeral Mass was held the next day at St. Michel Church on 1801 Sage Rd.
