Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 6622 Cherry Dale Drive

August 8, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an incident in which a homeowner discharged her gun, striking the suspect, at 6622 Cherry Dale Drive about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday (August. 7).

The suspect, Clarence Johnson, 39, has pending charges of criminal trespass, indecent exposure, and failure to ID to police.  He was transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening wounds.  A photo of Johnson is not available at this time.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers J. Russell and K. Saulsberry reported:

The suspect, Johnson, was riding a bicycle at the above address while exposing himself.  The 69-year-old female resident told him to continue down the street.  However, Johnson got off his bicycle and followed the woman up her driveway.  The two began arguing and the woman told Johnson to leave.  He refused and continued to expose himself.

The woman went inside her home and retrieved a gun while Johnson walked around to the front of the home and looked as though he was going to attempt to enter.  Fearing for her safety and that of her young grandchildren who were also inside the residence, the woman again demanded Johnson leave them alone.  When Johnson reached for the front door of the home, the woman shot him one time, striking him in the abdomen.

Johnson left and walked a few houses away before collapsing.  He was treated for his wounds by Houston Fire Department paramedics and then transported to the hospital.

The woman is not charged in this incident.
