Investigation into Shooting at 6118 Grapevine

July 12, 2018 - Houston police are investigating a shooting incident involving federal agents that occurred at 6118 Grapevine about 6 a.m. on Wednesday (July 11).

The male suspect was transported to an area hospital with what is believed to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The Department of Homeland Security agent who discharged his weapon was not injured in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit Detective L. Bailey reported:

Homeland Security federal agents were serving a federal warrant at 6118 and 6110 Grapevine.  During the course of the operation, three agents made forced entry into the above address.  As they entered the front door, the suspect was seen carrying a firearm.  Fearing for their safety, one of the agents discharged his weapon in the direction of the suspect and then all three agents retreated from the residence to take cover.

The agents then sent a mobile robot into the residence and used it to order the suspect outside.  When the suspect exited the house, agents learned he had been wounded.  He was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.

Federal and state charges are pending.

As is customary in officer-involved shootings in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
