Suspect Arrested, Charged in Crash at 8500 Long Point

June 21, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a crash at 8500 Long Point about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday (June 19).  

The suspect, Fredy Martinez (H/m, 19), is charged with intoxication assault in the 351st State District Court.  He was transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in an unknown condition.  A booking photo of Martinez, who remains hospitalized, is not available for release at this time.  

One male victim, a passenger, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.  Two other male victims, both 18, were transported to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital with minor injuries.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer  M. Rios reported:  

Martinez was driving a red Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound on Long Point, ran a red light at the intersection of Bingle and struck a gray Nissan Sentra traveling northbound on Bingle.  The Ford then rolled several times and struck a green Ford F-150 pickup truck stopped at a traffic light westbound on Long Point.  Martinez and his passenger were ejected from their vehicle.  Both men were transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital.  The males in the Nissan were also transported by paramedics to the hospital.  The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.  

Martinez was determined to be impaired and was subsequently charged.
