Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 3501 Corder

June 27, 2018 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 3501 Corder about 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday.  

One victim, Danta Mottley, 28, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  A second male (suspect), 24, also suffered gunshot wounds and was transported by private vehicle to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective S. Overstreet reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at Zollie Scales Park at the above address and found Mr. Mottley being transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital.  Further investigation determined Mottley had gotten into a disturbance with several other persons.  A male suspect, known to Mottley, later came to the park and both men got into an altercation which escalated.  Both men exchanged gunfire and both were struck.  Both men were transported to the hospital, where Mottley was pronounced deceased.  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
