Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 6210 Illinois

October 29, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a woman at 6210 Illinois about 2 a.m. today.  

The suspect, Leroy Houston (b/m, 60), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 180th State District Court.   He is accused in the shooting of his niece, Terrelisha Cole, 21, who was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.  

A photo of Houston is not available for release at this time.  

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Officers C. Bowling and L. Kauffman reported:  

Ms. Cole and her uncle (Houston) got into an argument  while at the above address.  Houston walked out of the residence and returned with a gun.  As Cole and Houston continued to argue, she then entered the bathroom of the residence and slammed the door.  Houston then fired a shot through the door and struck Cole in the abdomen.  Houston fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Cole to the hospital.
