Suspect Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 9914 Valley Wind

April 19, 2019 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man that occurred at 9914 Valley Wind about 10:15 p.m. on April 27, 2018.

The suspect, Janet Alexander (b/f, 69), is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court.  A prior booking photo, taken in June 2015, is attached to this news release.

The victim, Lionel Alexander, 64, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives T. Fay and T. Terry reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a deceased individual at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found Lionel Alexander dead from multiple stab wounds.  His wife, Janet Alexander, stated the couple had been arguing earlier and it had escalated.  She had non-life-threatening lacerations to her torso and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. 

The case was referred to a Harris County grand jury.  Following a review by the grand jury, Janet Alexander was charged in her husband's death.

As officers today (Friday, April 19), attempted to arrest her at her home at the above address on a murder warrant, she apparently set herself and the house on fire.  She was subsequently transported to an area hospital where she remains in HPD custody in an unknown condition.
