Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 2317 St. Charles

December 13, 2019 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2317 St. Charles Street about 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 11).

The suspect, Denzell Dewayne Levi (b/m, 26), is charged with murder and aggravated assault of a family member in the 208th State District Court.  A booking photo of Levi is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of male, whose identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Stroble and K. Collier reported:

Officers responded to a reported shooting at a residence at the above residence and found a male with an apparent gunshot wound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Witnesses stated the victim was involved in a verbal confrontation with Levi, which quickly turned into a physical altercation.  Levi then shot the victim and threatened his (Levi's) mother with the gun before fleeing the scene.  

Levi later contacted the Angleton Police Department and surrendered to officers at the Angleton Police Station.
