Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7400 Monroe

January 14, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash in which a motorist fled from Harris County Precinct 2 deputies that occurred at 7400 Monroe about 4:30 p.m. last Friday (January 11).

The male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer M. Mathews reported:

A Harris County Precinct 2 deputy constable attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the suspect, who was operating a Honda Cbr1000 motorcycle near Airport Boulevard and Monroe.  The motorcyclist fled at a high rate of speed northbound on Monroe.  As he entered the intersection, he struck a black Chevrolet Suburban that had just exited from the HOV lane.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.  The occupants of the SUV were not seriously injured.
