Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6200 Sam Houston Parkway East
July 16, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6200 Sam Houston Parkway East service road about 7:25 p.m. on Monday (July 15).
The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer A. Mares reported:
The victim was driving a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was travelling westbound at the above address when he attempted to pass an 18-wheeler. When the victim changed lanes, the driver of the 18-wheeler slammed on his brakes to avoid striking the pickup truck. The 18-wheeler successfully avoiding hitting the Chevrolet, however the driver of the pickup truck lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete pillar.
