Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 2720 South Kirkwood Road

June 5, 2019 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a shooting incident at 2720 South Kirkwood Road about 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday (June 4).  

The suspect, Adam Jonathan Collins (b/m, 49), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 179th State District Court.  A booking photo of Collins is attached to this news release.  

No one was injured in the shooting.  

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Barker and M. Combs reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a parking lot at the above address and determined there had been a confrontation between Collins and his ex-girlfriend had gotten into a confrontation.  As the woman attempted to drive away, Collins repeatedly stopped his vehicle in front of her, causing her vehicle to strike his. Collins then fired a gun at his ex-girlfriend's vehicle multiple times but did not strike her nor her 9-year-old son, who was a passenger in her vehicle,  Collins fled the scene.  He later met with officers, provided a statement and was subsequently arrested and charged.
