The suspect, Lexus Stagg (b/f, 26), is charged with criminal negligent homicide in the 337th State District Court for her role in the death of the victim, Lord Renfro, 3.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer C. Cisneros reported:

A white Lincoln Navigator was stopped in a driveway in the apartment complex at the above address when its driver, Stagg, began backing up as three children were outside, tapping on the vehicle.  The woman then switched gear and drove forward.  Two of the three children moved out of the way.  However, the driver's son (victim) got in front of the vehicle and was struck.  Paramedics transported the boy to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Stagg, who did not show visible signs of intoxication, was questioned and released pending additional investigation.

Further investigation led to charges filed against Stagg and she was taken into custody on Thursday (June 20) without incident.
