October 16, 2019 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the assault of a man and woman that occurred at 3914 Pickfair Street about 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 15).

The suspect, Howard Joseph Burton (b/m, 31), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of a habitation.  The charges are filed in the 185th State District Court.  A booking photo of Burton is attached to this news release.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers W. Elliott and R. Rivera reported:

Officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found Burton suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip.  Witnesses stated Burton, who was naked, forced his way into an apartment and struggled with the male victim inside the apartment.  The female victim, also inside the apartment, retrieved a gun.  When Burton attempted to grab the gun from her, the gun went off and struck him.  Burton then took the gun, pointed it at both victims and attempted to shoot them, but was unsuccessful because the gun was no longer loaded.

Burton was treated and released at an area hospital and charged in the incident..
