Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10200 Beechnut

September 25, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 10200 Beechnut Street about 12:10 a.m. today (September 25).

The male and female victims were pronounced dead at the scene.  Their identities are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer J. Crisler reported:

The driver of a black Lexus was traveling northbound in the 8200 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway service road (Beltway 8) when he failed to maintain a single lane of traffic while turning left onto Beechnut Street.  The Lexus drove off the roadway and struck the two victims who were resting on the sidewalk under the freeway overpass.

The driver, described only as a black male, then abandoned the Lexus and fled on foot.
