Investigation into Shooting Incident at 2520 Airline Drive

April 6, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a shooting incident that injured a juvenile male at 2520 Airline Drive about 2:05 p.m. on Sunday (April 5).

The victim, 5, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non life-threatening gunshot wounds.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Investigator J. Cimeni reported:

The victim was inside a parked SUV at a farmer's market at the above address when a firearm discharged from inside the vehicle and struck the child.  He suffered gunshot wounds to the hand and face.  Paramedics transported the boy to the hospital. 

The father stated he drove to the farmer's market with his wife, children and several other family members.  He and his wife, as well as the family members, went inside to shop and left his children waiting in the vehicle.  The father said he left a firearm inside the center console of his vehicle. 

At this time, it is unknown who discharged the weapon.  The investigation is continuing.
