Suspect Arrested, Charged in Assault at 812 East 24th Street

February 7, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the assault of a man at 812 East 24th Street about 2 p.m. on Tuesday (February 4).  

The suspect, Luis Eduardo Quijas-Martinez (H/m, 21), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 339th District Court.

The victim, Anthony Estrada, 32, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers L. Bolmanski and L. Thornton reported:  

Mr. Estrada stole Quijas-Martinez's vehicle from the above address.  Quijas-Martinez got into a different vehicle and chased Estrada.  Estrada crashed the vehicle he was driving and fled on foot. Quijas-Martinez then struck Estrada with the vehicle.  Paramedics transported Estrada to the hospital.  Quijas-Martinez was detained at the scene and subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
