Mayor's Office Press Release

Final Weekend: Houston Paying it Forward Hurricane Michael Donation Drive

October 25, 2018 -- Mayor Sylvester Turner is encouraging everyone to join the final push by donating to the Paying it Forward Hurricane Michael relief supply drive.

Donations will be collected through Sunday, Oct. 28.

The Houston Relief Hub and area Houses of Worship will serve as donation collection sites to help provide items to Panama City and Mexico Beach, Florida.

“I have personally spoken with mayors and faith-based representatives on the east coast who say the need is great,” Mayor Turner said. “Houston remembers when communities across the country came to our assistance after Harvey. Therefore, I am asking those who can donate to help with this effort. We will continue to show the world that we are Houston Strong and Houstonians have big hearts.”

Last month, Mayor Turner, the Relief Hub and the U.S. Conference of Mayors successfully coordinated the Pay It Forward Relief Response for Hurricane Florence, sending donations and supplies to the coastal areas.

A list of collection sites is located below. In addition to donations, the Hub requests volunteers to assist with coordination, sorting, and loading.

If you are available to volunteer, please email help@houstonreliefhub.org with the day and time.

Volunteer shifts will be 9 a.m.-Noon, Noon-3 p.m. and 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
