July 6, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8600 South Freeway (South State Highway 288) about 12:10 p.m. today (July 6).  

The identity of the male victim, 75, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer E. Rubio reported:  

The driver of a black Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound near the above address when, for unknown reasons, he veered off the highway and crossed the service road. 

The pickup truck then struck the chain link fence of a construction company parking lot before then striking a parked red Ford Explorer and a parked brown Ford F-150 pickup truck. 

Witnesses attempted to provide medical assistance the victim prior to the arrival of Houston Fire Department paramedics.  HFD paramedics subsequently transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

A preliminary investigation indicated the crash may have been the result of a medical incident.  

No other individuals were injured in this crash.  The investigation is continuing.
