Investigation into Shooting, Assault at 7001 Waxahachie Street

July 20, 2020 - Houston police are investigating the stabbing of a man who assaulted another male at 7001 Waxahachie Street about 6:05 p.m. on Sunday (July 19).

One male, Herman Saravia, 28, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition with several stab wounds.  The other male, Gilbert Flores, Jr., 25, was not injured.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer J. Cimeni reported:

Flores is the boyfriend of Saravia's ex-girlfriend.  The two men had a verbal altercation earlier in the day at Flores' apartment.  Saravia then contacted Flores to meet at a location.  Flores arrived first and, soon after, three vehicles surrounded his vehicle.  Flores drove away and onto the freeway as the other vehicles followed him.

As all parties were driving on the freeway, Flores stated that Saravia shot at him and damaged his vehicle.  Flores then exited the freeway and drove to a red light.  While at the light, Saravia exited his vehicle and started assaulting Flores.  Stating that he was in fear for his life after being shot at earlier, Flores retrieved a knife from his car and stabbed Saravia several times.  Savaria was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Anyone with additional information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800.
