Investigation into Shooting Incident at 8800 East Freeway

July 22, 2020 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which a shot was fired at HPD officers at 8800 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday (July 21).

No officers were wounded in the incident.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Sergeant T. Richardson and Detectives A. Graf and B. Godoy reported:

HPD patrol officers were providing traffic control while HPD Vehicular Crimes Division officers investigated a hit-and-run crash at the above address.  While closing the westbound lanes of the freeway to motorists, an unknown person fired a single shot at officers.  The projectile struck the ground, passing near an officer's feet.  The suspect was traveling eastbound in an unknown vehicle.
