Suspect Arrested, Charged in Incident at 2350 Pease Street

June 5, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the assault of a Houston police officer at 2350 Pease Street about 9:25 p.m. on Saturday (May 30).  

The suspect, Derek Hall (b/m, 40), is charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault of a public servant in the 230th State District Court.  A booking photo of Hall is attached to this news release.  

The injured HPD officer was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers L. Kauffman and G. Black reported: 

A group of HPD officers in the Special Response Group (SRG) observed suspect Hall use a bedpost to assault several people, including a male who was struck in the head and attempt to destroy a vehicle.  As officers ran toward Hall he retreated to his vehicle and intentionally accelerated at the officers, striking one.  Hall then fled the scene in his vehicle.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the officer to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The male, 24, was treated at the scene and released.  

Hall was later located and arrested by HPD officers.  He was charged for his role in the incident.
