Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 4819 Irvington Boulevard

September 11, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 4819 Irvington Boulevard about 2:15 p.m. on Thursday (September 10).  

The suspect, Syed Muhammad Naqvi (A/m, 22), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 232nd State District Court.  He is accused in the shooting of Eric Ybarbo, 40, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer A. Barker reported:  

Mr. Ybarbo went to a cell phone store at the above address to return a pair of keys he mistakenly left with earlier in the day.  Naqvi, a cashier at the store, shot Ybarbo multiple times as he was returning the keys.  Paramedics transported Ybarbo to the hospital.  

Naqvi was detained at the scene by responding HPD officers and was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
