September 28, 2020 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a woman found at 2800 Kirby Drive about 11:35 a.m. on Saturday (September 26).  

The woman is identified as Lisa Ellen Dempsey, 63.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a welfare check call at an apartment at the above address.  Officers knocked on the door and heard a dog barking inside.  Following a preliminary investigation and an unsuccessful attempt by apartment management to unlock the door, officers forced entry to the apartment.  

Officers found Ms. Dempsey deceased and slumped over the armrest of her chair.  Her body was in the early stages of decomposition.  At this time, is has not been determined if Dempsey suffered any trauma.  

The investigation is pending Dempsey's cause of death, to be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
