Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 1019 Terminal Street

April 8, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 1019 Terminal Street about 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday (April 7).

The suspect, Selvin Maldonado (H/m, 29), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 174th State District Court.  A booking photo of Maldonado is attached to this news release.

The victim, Rey Castellanos, 30, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectivces F. Lee and V. Habukiha reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a reported drive-by shooting at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found Mr. Castellanos suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.  Multiple witnesses reported seeing a black, four-door Cadillac circling the area prior to the shooting. 

Following the shooting of Castellanos, patrol officers located the vehicle about one mile away.  Evidence found inside the vehicle matched items located on the scene.  Maldonado was arrested on a parole violation and subsequently charged in this incident.
